Dinosaur Island Tabletop Game Challenges You To Create Your Own Dino Theme Park

In the ’90s, Jurassic Park captured our collective imaginations with its depiction of a dinosaur theme park come to life. And perhaps that novel and movie were a major influence on Dinosaur Island, the upcoming tabletop game from Pandasaurus Games. Within this title, players will get the chance to create their own dinosaur theme parks while competing with each other and avoiding dino danger.

Earlier this month, Pandasaurus Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dinosaur Island, and it’s already proven to be wildly successful, although perhaps not as wild as the dinosaurs themselves. Players will have to clash over resources, and they will also have to contend with the dinosaurs themselves. Because even the best cages can only hold the dinosaurs for so long.

Dead of Winter designer Jon Gilmour and Brian Lewis (Titans of Industry) teamed up to create this game, which features ’90s inspired artwork by Kwanchai Moriya and Peter Wocken. One of the key goals in the game will require the players to collect the dinosaur DNA, which is why the game includes specially made dice. Players will also have which dinosaurs should be included in their parks. Gentle herbivores probably won’t hurt anyone or scare any guests, but a T-rex and velociraptors can draw crowds because of their inherent danger. And if your theme park doesn’t have a sense of excitement, then you’re probably going to lose this game.

Fortunately, the backer levels are very simple for this project. The standard game is only $60, and the deluxe edition is $80. Both versions will include the stretch goals, several of which have already been unlocked.

The Dinosaur Island Kickstarter is scheduled to run until Friday, March 24. To back the game or learn more about it, you can visit the campaign page here. Dinosaur Island is expected to ship in August of this year.
