Watching funny and creative people be funny and creative is always a joy. When it comes to actual play tabletop RPGs, few do it was well as Brennan Lee Mulligan. The guy is so good at DMing, he’s joined the g-darn OGs at Critical Role. But that doesn’t mean he’s leaving Dropout’s Dimension 20 in the dust. Unless it’s the dust of a post-apocalyptic desert, that is. Today, Dimension 20 released the first trailer for its new campaign, Gladlands, and while it takes place in a Mad Max-like wasteland, it’s definitely not as scary. Take a look!
Gladlands premieres January 7 with episodes dropping every Wednesday for six weeks. Each episode will be accompanied by an in-dome Adventuring Party talkback, released the following day.
The official synopsis is as follows: “Led by game master Brennan Lee Mulligan, the series is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where people turn to community and kindness for survival. Vic Michaelis and Kimia Behpoornia will be joining Ally Beardsley, Oscar Montoya, Zac Oyama, and Jacob Wysocki, marking their first time in the dome.” Michaelis and Behpoornia are no strangers to fans of Dropout, especially Michaelis whose show Very Important People is one of the funniest on an already very funny network.

We love the idea of a pleasant post-apocalypse, and Mulligan hits exactly the right mix of wholesome and wholly deranged with his NPC dialogue. The cast are all pros at improvisation, so whether you’re in it for the comedy or the gameplay, it looks like you’ll have plenty to look forward to in Gladlands. Like the series’ slogan states, “the world might have ended, but manners didn’t.”
