DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE’s Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds Recreated the ‘Sad Wolverine’ Meme

If there’s one thing Wolverine is known for, it’s his adamantium claws. If there’s a second thing, it’s his sideburns. Third is probably his mutant healing powers. Or maybe it’s his anger issues? Look, the point is people know a lot about the iconic X-Men character. That includes how he has his very own meme known as the Sad Wolverine Meme. The World Wide Web has had a lot of fun over the years adapting that famous image of the character lying in bed wistfully looking at a framed photo. Now Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have helped Marvel Studios make that very funny Sad Wolverine meme moment a reality.

Deadpool & Wolverine‘s titular stars helped celebrate the film’s bonkers opening box office with a little internet silliness. First, Marvel Studios shared a photo on social media of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine recreating his comic counterpart’s infamous moment of reflection. Only instead of looking at a photo that makes him sad in this live-action Sad Wolverine meme recreation, Logan was actually looking at something that should make him very happy. The picture notes his movie is the #1 film in the world.

Marvel then followed that up with Deadpool’s own, fittingly meta version of the Sad Wolverine meme. He’s lying in bed looking at a picture of the original posts of Wolverine bringing the meme to life.

Why does Deadpool have a photo of Logan by his bedside? Well, knowing Deadpool, we imagine that’s probably private. So we’ll leave him to it.

But if you like this recreation of the Sad Wolverine meme, you can now join in the fun yourself. All you have to do is take a photo of Deadpool’s photo, frame it, and then look at it while lying in bed, Sad Wolverine style. Just don’t be surprised if Deadpool appears to annoy you about it later. You never know when he’ll decide to break the fourth wall.
