It’s Deadpool’s world and the rest of us are just f***ing living in it. The Merc With a Mouth is already confirmed to get in on the multiversal fun later this year when Avengers: Doomsday comes to theaters for the MCU’s next live-action crossover event. But now we know he’s also headed to Marvel’s animated side. During the Marvel TV and Animation panel as this year’s New York Comic Con fans learned that Deadpool will appear in season three of X-Men ’97.

The most famous cartoon mutants on TV are about to meet their fourth wall breaking friend/pain in the ass. Marvel revealed his upcoming appearance on the popular rebooted animated season at NYCC. It’s one of the first big nerd announcements to come out of the event. It will also be one of the best. The possibility of Wade Wilson’s foul-mouthed superhero appearing in season three wasn’t on our wishlist for what we hope to see when the show returns. But it’s easy to imagine how the show might utilize him. (Even if it can’t exactly utilize his typical vocabulary on a show that remains kid-friendly.)
X-Men ’97‘s second season introduced X-Force. If the series is going to expand the group’s role and presence on the show, Deadpool makes total sense. He is an easy and exciting way to do exactly that. Or maybe he’ll just show up for some comic relief and cause a whole lot of problems for everyone by being a wise-cracking a-hole who drives everyone up a wall. Either/or/probably both.

Whatever his role ends up being on the show, whether it’s big or small, he’ll be a welcome addition to one of the MCU’s best series. Deadpool always f***ing is. That’s probably why every dimension in the multiverse keeps having him show up.
