Last year, Sonic the Hedgehog and his pals teamed up with DC’s Justice League, and a beautiful friendship was born. In the first DC x Sonic the Hedgehog series, they took on Darkseid himself together. So what do you do for an encore after fighting the Lord of Apokolips? How about a metal legion? DC Comics has just announced that the creative team of Ian Flynn and Adam Bryce Thomas are returning for DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion, a new five-issue mini-series debuting in May. And here’s the official synopsis from DC Comics for DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion:
Mysterious mechanical rings have appeared across both worlds, linking them together and unleashing all things wonderful, worrisome, and weird. The heroes are happily reunited, but little do they suspect there’s a sinister origin behind their unexpected team-ups.
Does this Metal Legion have ties to another sinister DC legion, the Legion of Doom? DC has a heroic legion too, the Legion of Super-Heroes, so maybe they show up to lend a hand. Look, as long as Sonic and the Flash get to race again, we’re happy. Writer Ian Flynn said of this follow-up series, “I had an absolute blast the last time around, and I’m really happy that little tease we left at the end of the first crossover is finally coming to fruition. I hope everyone enjoys this second go around as much as I did writing it!”

DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #1 features a main cover by Pablo M. Collar, with variant covers by Adam Bryce Thomas, Serg Acuña, and Min Ho Kim. The 32-page debut issue arrives May 5, 2026, priced at $3.99 US, with card stock variants available for $4.99 US.
