DC SUPER HERO GIRLS Leap into Action in First Trailer for Cartoon Network Relaunch

DC Super Hero Girls has been a resounding success for the comics company since it launched in 2015. Based around redesigned versions of some of DC’s most famous female characters as they embarked on an education at Super Hero High.

The series spawned movies (including LEGO ones), comics, and a popular toy line,  but last year DC announced a reimagining of the concept from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic creator Lauren Faust. And the first girl power packed trailer has arrived!

The new version of the show has had a soft relaunch already with some shorts on YouTube, but this is our first look at the full series which will be debuting with a movie on Cartoon Network. Made up of Supergirl, Batgirl, Zatanna, Bumblebee, and Jessica Cruz’s Green Lantern, the new look is a far cry from the simple style of the original. It seems like it’ll be an action packed adventure with the teens in a normal school trying to get through day to day life and save the world against a number of female villains like Giganta, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy. We also get appearances from other DC characters like The Flash and other Green Lanterns too, which is always a lot of fun.

Faust has precedent for creating massive franchise hits with her work on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Powerpuff Girls. Fans of the animator might recognize the style of the show from Faust’s previous short lived DC Nation series Super Best Friends Forever. This shares the same dynamic look of Faust’s previous projects and once again centers on fierce young women finding their place in the world. We’re super excited to see the finished product when the film lands on Cartoon Network on March 8.
