Last summer, James Gunn’s DCU blasted off in a BIG WAY with Superman. David Corenswet took the world by storm and cape as the Man of Steel. And we (the royal we, the world) LOVED it. So much so that, almost immediately, James Gunn announced that we wouldn’t have to wait very long to see Corenswet’s Superman again. In July 2027, DC Studios will release Man of Tomorrow, returning both David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor to our screens. But it turns out that David Corenswet’s Superman will return EVEN earlier than that. We were all pondering the same question: “Will Superman return in Supergirl?” And now we know, the answer is, YES! A new Supergirl trailer reveals David Corenswet in a surprise cameo—and he’s as sweet as ever. You can watch a part of the clip below.
Aww, we missed that face. Is David Corenswet not the most perfect Superman/Clark Kent to ever fly? This author thinks so. But, she’s biased. In any case, Corenswet’s Supes is back in Supergirl‘s trailer, and he’s worried about his cousin. We’re into big brother Superman… but we’re not sure Supergirl will feel as much into it as we are.
Superman Goes Full Big Brother In Supergirl Trailer Cameo
In his full Supergirl trailer cameo, Superman’s scene is slightly changed from the teaser clip we originally saw above. In the full trailer, Clark tells Kara, “Hey, I was just touching base to see when you might be coming back. You know, I’m just worried you’re not gonna find your stride here if you keep going off world all the time, Kara. I’m worried you’re not going to find your people.”
Meanwhile, what we heard Corenswet’s Superman say in the teaser for the Supergirl trailer was “Hey, hey, it’s me, Clark. You know, I’m just worried because, well, you know, we miss ya. I was just touching base to see when you might be coming back.”

Regardless of which version of Superman’s cameo is really in the Supergirl movie, or if we see a fuller version that includes all of these thoughts, we’re ready to cue even more awwwwws. We do hope Clark telling Kara that he misses her makes it into the final cut, though. That really touched our hearts. And we think Supergirl needs to hear that from Superman, because as she says in the trailer, in her opinion, “I have no people.”
Will David Corenswet’s Superman Return in Any More Supergirl Cameo Scenes?
For now, we don’t know if we’ll see David Corenswet’s Superman cameo in any other Supergirl scenes. But what a treat it is to see him again, even for a quick moment.
We kind of hope that Clark/Superman does have a bigger role to play in Supergirl, though. We know from Superman that Clark was watching Supergirl’s dog, Krypto, while she was away, presumably partying on a different planet. So there’s some relationship between them in their DCU incarnations. Supergirl‘s previous teaser trailers seem to imply that Kara isn’t really okay after everything she’s been through, though. And, potentially, Clark can’t really understand that part of her. But if there’s one person who might be willing to try, it’s Superman—however closed off Kara may seem.

We guess experiencing the destruction of Krypton will do that to a person, though. We’re sure Supergirl will dive into all that trauma and more. But we’d like to see Clark help Kara through it. Even if it’s not Superman‘s movie, Clark is a huge figure in Kara’s life. We’d love to see that bond really crystallized AND we’d love to see Kara find people of her own, seperate from her cousin.
When Does Supergirl Release?
Supergirl will release in theaters on June 26, 2026, and then we’ll find out if Supes, Lex, or anyone else has any surprise cameos for us. Lex has appeared in every DCU property to date.
