DARK CRYSTAL Game Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Look’s like we’re getting a Dark Crystal game! During Nintendo Direct’s E3 presentation it was revealed that the upcoming Netflix prequel will coincide with a Switch game called Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics.

In case you don’t know the story behind Dark Crystal, it’s set in a world ruled by a cruel race known as the Skeksis who are committing genocide against a race of elf-like creatures that a prophecy says might be the ones to end their reign. The cult fantasy film follows a young Gelfling named Jen as he tries to bring peace to the land that he loves.

The game looks like it will be a Final Fantasy style tactical RPG, but set in the magical world of the beloved Jim Henson film. From what was showcased at the presentation it seems like players will take on the role of the heroic Gelflings and battle groups of the nefarious and terrifying Skeksis.

Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance already aims to expand and elevate the world and lore of the classic film and it appears that Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics will be adding even more to the already sprawling lore which covers multiple books and comics as well as a massive internet encyclopedia and fandom. Fans of the Jim Henson creation will likely be very happy with the game which features some classic characters like Aughra the Astronomer.

Details are scarce but it looks like it will be a whole bunch of fantasy fun which will keep the spirit of the original property while reimagining it for an entirely new platform. The game is expected to hit shelves this year.
