The second season of Daredevil: Born Again has come to a close. And once again, the life of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is in complete turmoil. That good Catholic former altar boy can’t ever catch a break. He’s revealed his true identity to the world, the price he’s paid for exposing Wilson Fisk as a criminal, forcing him to step down as Mayor. Now in prison, and with Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) exiled overseas, what could the future bring for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen? Here are our biggest questions going into Daredevil: Born Again’s third season in 2027.

Can Matt Murdock Conceal His Daredevil Identity Again?
In the comics, Matt Murdock’s secret identity has been exposed more than once. In true Marvel Comics fashion, he always finds a way to put that genie back in the bottle. With Daredevil’s true identity exposed by Matt Murdock himself in court in Born Again, could this be something that ever gets reversed? In the MCU, Peter Parker had to ask Doctor Strange to do a spell to make the world forget he was Spider-Man. We don’t see Matt having any sorcerers on his speed dial. So in Matt’s case, things are a bit more complicated.

In the comics, the children of the villain the Purple Man made the world forget Matt was ever Daredevil. Again, we don’t see that playing out in the series. However, they could always say that the Matt who revealed his identity to the world and fought Fisk was a Skrull. The alien shapeshifting race did get a namedrop in season one after all. Honestly, we don’t foresee that either, but we have a feeling that by the end of season three, Matt Murdock will be both out of jail and back to hiding his superheroic persona. We just don’t know how.
Does Wilson Fisk Come Back to the United States?

At the end of season two, Wilson Fisk has lost it all. His beloved wife Vanessa is dead, he’s been exposed as a criminal and a murderer (again), and he’s lost the role of Mayor of New York City. However, he cut a deal, so he’s not in jail. He’s simply forced to leave the country. But just because Fisk is living in a tropical hideaway now, that doesn’t mean he’s not going to attempt revenge on Matt Murdock. Will Fisk operate overseas for Born Again season three? Part of the fun of this series is seeing Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio face each other down in the literal sense. But right now, we don’t see how Fisk ever steps foot in the United States ever again. But we’re certain he’ll stop at nothing to end Matt Murdock for good. We’re just curious to know how he does it long-distance.
Is Bullseye’s New Government Role Leading to the Dark Avengers?

At the end of the season, the CIA’s Mr. Charles (Matthew Lillard) recruits Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) to become his new enhanced operative. Essentially, he replaces Luke Cage, who gets to return home to his partner Jessica Jones, and their daughter Danielle. But let’s not forget, Bullseye is very much a sociopath. Can Mr. Charles keep a guy like that on a leash? In the comics, Bullseye found a role in the government-sponsored “Dark Avengers.” These were all criminals who received superhero makeovers. It was the Marvel version of DC’s Suicide Squad. Bullseye became the new Hawkeye. They were under the thumb of Norman Osborn in the comics. There’s no Norman in the MCU, but could Mr. Charles be taking his place? Could a “reformed” Bullseye be the first step in an MCU Dark Avengers? We think it’s at least likely.
Will the Defenders Formalize into a True Super Team?

In the upcoming third season, Matt Murdock is now in prison, and we have no idea how he might get out. But we do know that not only is Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones back, but also Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones). Yes, we are getting a full-fledged Defenders reunion next year. But do they become a real team? In the Defenders mini-series, these characters worked together for one mission, and then went their separate ways. Could Born Again season three formally make them into a team? And will they keep the name “Defenders” (which they actually never really use in the mini-series) and name themselves the more comics-accurate Heroes for Hire? We’re kind of pulling for the latter. There are other MCU heroes who fit the name “Defenders” even more.
Can Luke Cage Become Mayor of New York City?

In the pages of Marvel Comics, after Wilson Fisk’s equally disastrous run as Mayor of New York City, Luke Cage ran for office, and won. Could the Hero of Harlem become the Mayor of New York in the MCU, now that he’s back? Images that Mike Colter posted on Instagram on the set of season three suggest a very different story trajectory for his character. But we don’t know how much time the third season will cover. We could see the season ending with Luke Cage becoming the Mayor of New York, possibly pardoning Matt Murdock. Also, it’s a perfect setup for a potential Luke Cage series revival. We’ve yet to have a series or movie about a superhero politician. Why not have Luke Cage be the first?
