Steve Buscemi and Daniel Radcliffe Play God and an Angel in New Comedy MIRACLE WORKERS

Daniel Radcliffe obviously knows what it’s like to play a magical person, and he also has plenty of experience playing the favorite underling of a powerful old guy with a white beard. But perhaps that’s about all his next role has in common with Harry Potter; this time around, Radcliffe is playing an overworked, overlooked angel who runs one of the most stressful departments in Heaven. And it doesn’t help matters that his boss, God (played by Steve Buscemi), is ready to throw in the towel on all of humanity. Behold, the new limited series from TBS: Miracle Workers. The supernatural workplace comedy set at Heaven headquarters is based on show creator Simon Rich’s 2012 novel What in God’s Name. Radcliffe stars as Craig, “a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers.” Beyond the difficulties of his impossible job, Craig also must deal with Buscemi’s God, who seems to be in his own late Howard Hughes stage of life. When God decides he’s ready for a new project, Craig and “and fellow angel Eliza must answer a seemingly unanswerable prayer: help two humans fall in love.”So that’s why our prayers never get answered—Heaven is understaffed. And we thought Daniel Radcliffe had a hard job dealing with Voldemort. At least Dumbledore never tried to blow up the whole planet. The seven-episode season also stars Deadpool‘s Karan Soni as God’s right-hand man and Geraldine Viswanathan as Radcliffe’s partner in the Answered Prayers department, and is executive produced by Lorne Michaels. The show premieres Tuesday, February 12 at 10:30 p.m. EST.
