Critical Role: Vex’s Soundtrack – A Rhapsody In Arrows

Powered by Geek & Sundry

I was so excited to put together this playlist for you guys. With some of the songs, I knew right away I’d want them on the list because they’ve pretty much been echoing in my head the whole time we’ve been playing. But with others – it was kind of a magical discovery process of digging through my music collection and listening to them as Vex would. Turns out, music sounds a bit different when your ears are pointy.

1. Hopeless Wanderer – Mumford and Sons

This is right after Vex and Vax ran away from their father. A lot of ups and downs…. Really struggling to find some kind of comfort in the wild on their own.

2. I’m Good, I’m Gone – Lykke Li

This is totally what was echoing in Vex’s head when she thought of her father after they left. On the one hand, she resents him – on the other, she really wants to prove to him she’s worthy of his attention.

3. Satellite Call – Sara Bareilles

The night she found Trinket. She was alone and broken, but discovered him and realized she still had something to fight for. (Tears. Just… Lots of tears right now.)

4. Ragged Wood – Fleet Foxes

A bit brighter. I see this as the transition period when the twins start to really come into their own.

5. Paris (Ooh La La) – Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

The song Vex hears in her head when she haggles down a merchant. Slow mo. Drops the mic. Exits store.

6. Love Don’t Die – The Fray

Trinket Trinket Trinket.

7. Say It to Me Now – Glen Hansard

A song for Percy. Vex can see there’s something terrible happening inside of him, but he won’t share it.

8. Kiss With a Fist – Florence + the Machine

This is basically just Vex in pure ass kicking mode. I can totally see a drunken bar brawl happening with this playing.

9. My Silver Lining – First Aid Kit

Nick Herman, the amazing series director of Tales From the Borderlands, introduced me to this song, and I think it’s the perfect anthem for Vex and the entire Vox Machina crew.

10. Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend – Julie London

Basically… Vex’s theme song.
