Chef Makes CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS’ Chocolate Turkey

We’ve got a good news/bad news culinary situation to tell you about. The good news is that Andrew Rea of Binging with Babish has finally tackled the Mayor’s absurd dream cuisine from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Rea made “a pizza stuffed inside a turkey, the whole thing deep friend and dipped in chocolate.” The bad news is that it was as disgusting as you’d think. But if you have the kitchen skills needed to turn even the most absurd dining options into an elegant dinner, there is a delectable version of this dish you can whip up.

The latest Binging with Babish takes a turkey dinner to a place it shouldn’t go. Rea put a rolled up, fully-cooked slice of pepperoni pizza inside a turkey breast. He then deep fried the Frankenstein food, per the wishes of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs‘ Mayor. If that had been the end of things the meal might have been fine. But pouring a whole heaping of chocolate over the whole thing made that an impossibility. Believe me, I know firsthand the perils of mixing turkey flavors with sweets.

Obviously no restaurant would put that on the menu. And if they did they’d be shut down. But as always Rea worked his magic to transform the monstrosity into something you might actually serve. All while keeping the spirit of the original dish.

He made a mole sauce to serve as the chocolate dip. Which he poured on top of his deep fried turkey pieces. It was served alongside what he describes as a Mexican pizza stuffing. A concoction that looks and sounds so scrumptious I would like to order.

I won’t be serving it inside a deep fried turkey dipped in chocolate, though. I don’t care if the mayor is coming to dinner and requests it. That meal is bad news.
