STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT Games Are Returning in a Classic Collection

Believe it or not, 2024 marks twenty years since the release of the original Star Wars: Battlefront game. In honor of the big anniversary, Star Wars: Battlefront and 2005’s Star Wars: Battlefront II are coming to devoted fans in a new classic collection. This collection will bring 64-player online gameplay to consoles for the very first time. It will showcase several new special features as well. And you won’t have to wait very long for either one to arrive. These classic Star Wars shooters are launching on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC on March 14.

The Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection contains both Star Wars: Battlefront and its sequel all in one package. These are the original Battlefront games, and not the Star Wars: Battlefront games developed by Dice, which came out in 2015 and 2017. You can watch the announcement trailer for the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection above.

This Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection contains the original versions, which were only available on PS2, Xbox, and PC. This release marks the first time any of the classic Battlefront games will be playable on Nintendo consoles. All previously released bonus content and DLC will be included, and Steam Deck will be supported too. The Battlefront classic Includes the Bonus Map of Jabba’s Palace. Battlefront II, meanwhile, includes these bonus maps: Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel, and Yavin 4: Arena. The original game has 17 total maps. Battlefront II boasts 22 ground maps, 6 space maps, and 9 more space maps.

In another first for this collection, classic Star Wars: The Clone Wars bonus characters Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto will be playable on PlayStation. Before, they were Xbox-only. Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection will officially launch on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch, and PC on March 14 for $35.01. If you already own the original games on Xbox or Steam, you’ll get a 20% discount when pre-ordering the games. For more details, head on over to the official PlayStation blog.
