The “Is Cillian Murphy in 28 Years Later or Not?” saga continues. At first, there was word that he would be in the film. And, fans certainly thought they saw Cillian in the 28 Years Later trailer as a zombie, only to discover that was not him after all. It sure did look like him, though. If it were true, that would have been a ridiculously funny cameo, imo. Now, producer Andrew Macdonald is finally clearing the air about Cillian Murphy’s involvement in 28 Years Later and the future of the 28 Days Later franchise.
When speaking to Empire Magazine, Macdonald confirmed that Cillian Murphy will not be in the 28 Years Later movie. But he hopes that there is room for Jim to return to this new trilogy at some point. “[On] this, we wanted him to be involved and he wanted to be involved,” he said. “He is not in the first film, but I’m hoping there will be some Jim somewhere along the line.” For now, Murphy will remain behind the scenes as an executive producer but we will see what happens in the future.
We already know that 28 Days Later: The Bone Temple is shot and ready to go. It is not impossible for Jim to be in it and they are just keeping it under wraps for now.
