2026 marks sixty years since the starship Enterprise began her five-year mission, changing pop culture forever. The adventures of William Shatner’s Captain James T. Kirk and Leonard Nimoy’s Mister Spock only lasted three seasons. But Star Trek launched a franchise that is still running to this day. But it all began with The Original Series, which launched on NBC in 1966. And sixty years to the day of its first episode, on September 8, Paramount is releasing a special collector’s Blu-ray set of every Star Trek: The Original Series episode ever. The are 20 discs in total in the Star Trek: The Original Series 60th Anniversary Blu-ray Gift Set, containing all 79 episodes, which ran from 1966 to 1969. In addition to Shatner and Nimoy, the series also starred DeForest Kelley (Bones), Nichelle Nichols (Uhura), George Takei (Sulu), James Doohan (Scotty), and Walter Koenig (Chekov). These discs contain the episodes as they originally aired, as well as with new, upgraded effects for the high-definition format. There are also 9 hours of special features.
