The CATS Trailer Is Here And Twitter Has a Lot of Questions

We’ve been anxiously awaiting Tom Hooper’s Cats for a while now. The live-action film is based on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous stage musical–and adapted from a T.S. Eliot poem–and is a long-running Broadway show with a Byzantine plot and a lot of songs no one remembers except, coincidentally, “Memory.” The folks behind the movie have been teasing us with tidbits about the movie for a while–namely, that it would feature humans actors with digitally enhanced fur trotting around on giant sets. We had no idea what to expect and after watching the Cats trailer…we’re still having a hard time believing this thing is real.

And we’re certainly not alone. Twitter has been blowing up since the trailer debuted. This thing is already a meme factory. Here are some of the things people are saying about Tom Hooper’s Cats.

Some compared the cats in the trailer to other pop culture cats.
While others used classic art to make their point.
A lot of people aren’t very happy about what they’ve seen.
Some folks are getting downright existential.
Also, there’s this.

Cats arrives in theaters on December 20, 2019. Are you prepared?
