For any of us who have small kids (or at least interact with them on a somewhat regular basis), we know that Bluey is a big deal for them. The titular, adorable Blue Heeler doggie and her sweet family are a staple on Disney+ after years of success on Australian TV. Bluey’s high energy and overall curiosity about the big world around her is frankly adorable and the merch is aww-inspiring. She’s very much the next generation’s version of Blue from Blue’s Clues, except she actually talks. So it is not shocking that a Bluey movie is coming our way in 2027. The movie will officially release on August 7, 2027.
Disney and BBC Studios will join forces for the Bluey movie, which will be CG-animated. The show’s vocal talent will all continue in their roles, along with its composer coming back for the film’s score.
“Since its debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, uniting families everywhere with its heartfelt stories of play, imagination and connection,” said Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden and Alan Bergman. “We are so proud to expand upon our relationship with BBC Studios to bring the magic of Bluey to the big screen – for real life! – and we are deeply grateful to Joe Brumm for creating a world that continues to inspire and delight families everywhere.”
Disney further notes, “The film features returning voice talent Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit). The movie marks the big-screen debut of the beloved blue heeler and her family, bringing the Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning series to life like never before.”
What wonderful news for all the Bluey fans in the world. As mentioned, the Bluey movie will release on August 6, 2027.
