The Boys made its debut on Prime Video back in 2019, and television hasn’t been the same since then. The raunchy, timely, and at times emotionally resonant series takes place in a world where superheroes are corrupt and rewarded for it with fame and corporate backing. And, as the show goes into its fifth and final season, things are at a fever pitch in America.
Homelander is essentially the POTUS, humans are being put into “Freedom Camps,” and Butcher is making one last effort to eradicate supes, even if it means losing his own life. There are so, so many questions that need answers as the show nears its series finale. But these five questions absolutely must get an answer in The Boys season five.
Will Homelander and/or Butcher Die?

This is perhaps the biggest question of them all. After betraying his fellow Boys in season four and riding off to parts unknown, it seems that Butcher is back and ready to reunite the crew. Butcher has always been the anti-hero of this story and, considering he’s essentially a supe now, it is quite likely that he will die. He has always wanted to eradicate supes but using a supe-killing virus could also take him out, too.
And the number one supe he wants to kill is Homelander. Throughout the series, he’s been nearly invincible, taking every blow and trick thrown his way and basically lasering them all down with his eyeballs. But, this is the last round, the final stand between the Boys and the Supes. Homelander is in hot pursuit of V1, which could essentially make him immortal. The Boys HAVE to kill him this time, lest the world forever be in a chaotic spiral. Honestly, a gruesome death is what he deserves after all the pain, destruction, and chaos that he’s caused over the years.
Will The Boys Stay Together or Go Their Separate Ways in the Season 5 Finale?

After this final fight happens, what will happen to the OG Boys collective? If supes are eradicated completely, that could mean the death of Annie, Kimiko, and Butcher. (Hughie stopped using Temp V a while ago, so he’s safe.) That would leave Hughie, MM, and Frenchie all heartbroken over their losses and obviously disbanding the Boys. However, they would have to move forward with their lives.
It would make sense for MM, a former military man and tactical guy, to perhaps help with rebuilding the country and its militia. MM could also reconnect with his family and decide to live a quiet life off the grid, which he would deserve. Frenchie could decide to go back to his native France and rebuild his life there, perhaps working in a technical field or in a laboratory doing research. And Hughie could play a role in possibly reforming Vought (more on that in a bit) or the government overall.
Now, if all the supes do not die, that’s a different story. The group could stick together and continue to fight against corrupt superpowered beings. Maybe they will even take their show on the road and head to another country. There is a spinoff series happening in Mexico, after all. Or, they could finally decide to let things be what they are if key supes like Homelander, Sage, and Firecracker are dead. The group could disband, couples could stick together and everyone could try their best to live a happy life. That’s a doubtful situation, though. We will have to see what actually happens to the Boys.
Will Vought Finally Crumble or Will It Reform Itself?

Since the beginning, Vought has been a vital foundation in building up and supporting the acts of Homelander, Soldier Boy, and other powerful beings who are not super nor heroes. From covering up disasters to the constant PR spins on devastating events, Vought is the machine that made this universe awful. So, we all wanna know what will happen with Vought in the future. Will it finally crumble with the defeat of Homelander? It could, in time, become an old relic of the past when superheroes ruled the Earth. Or, can the organization find a way to possibly rebrand and reform itself?
The company does have pharmaceutical origins (even if that story is quite messy), so maybe those resources can be used to create meds that help regular humans. That’s not impossible after some serious housekeeping to hold those who are still left accountable for their crimes and bringing in fresh leadership (NOT Stan Edgar). Even if the latter happens, it will take a lot of work for the American people to put their faith back into Vought, including the idiots who support Homelander.
Will Supes Still Exist?

This is one of the biggest questions that The Boys season five will answer. Butcher has that virus that’s capable of killing everyone with Compound V in their veins. But, if he does find a way to unleash it, what does that mean? Sure, we want to see Homelander and other bad supes die but what about Annie and Kimiko? We also cannot forget our Gen V supes as well, most of whom are good kids.
And, there are supes who have perhaps found redemption, like A-Train and Cate. Will supes still exist after The Boys season five? I feel like there isn’t a viable way to spread the virus and take every single one out. There could be ones who live in alone and in peace. And how would you get it across the entire globe? Surely there are supes in many countries at this point. It is quite the question to ponder, indeed?
What Is Sister Sage’s Ultimate Plan… and Will It Happen?

Right now, it’s still not totally clear what Sister Sage’s ultimate plan is. We know she was going behind Homelander’s back as his advisor and in cahoots with Thomas Godolkin, who wanted to basically get rid of “useless” supes. She wasn’t down with that plan, saying it was deviating from their ultimate goal. But Thomas is dead now and we still don’t really know what her ultimate plan is.
Right now, she’s having fun using her IQ to help Homelander turn the US into a fascist and supe-powered regime. But is that it? She seems to want to destroy Homelander in the end, but what is the endgame after that? The Boys season five has to finally let us know what Sister Sage is doing.
