Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series took the world by storm with season one in 2024. Derived from the beloved cartoon series, the live-action version retells the story of Aang and Team Avatar as they traverse a world where war rages between elemental nations. Season one sparked to life all of our favorites from the original cartoon: Aang, Sokka, Katara, Zuko, and others. With a devoted fan base, expectations are high as Netflix leaps forward onto the next chapter. Netflix has officially announced the release date for season two. Avatar: The Last Airbender returns on June 25, 2026. To celebrate they also showed a truly incredible behind-the-scenes featurette, which reveals the action is higher, the friendships are stronger, and just about everything in season two is more exciting.
In this featurette, we see the Gaang return, now with the addition of live-action Toph, who fans are absolutely excited to see. Her actress, Miya Cech, seems to be nailing the role in this featurette. Additionally, Avatar Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), and Sokka (Ian Ousley) have all returned to form in fine fashion. Then, of course, there’s Dallas Liu’s Zuko—who stuns in his battle training. It’s a big season for Zuko, so we can’t wait to see him come to life. We even catch a glimpse of Liu’s Zuko learning how to redirect lightening, a major scene from the cartoon series.

We also do love to see the Gaang having some fun and especially the moment where Cormier in full Aang garb recreates Sokka’s epic cartoon meme “Water Tribe!”

The Netflix series has already been renewed for both seasons two and three, rounding off the original story of its cartoon predecessor. As we expect, it seems season two of live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender will unravel the events recounted in Book Two: Earth of the cartoon.

What We Can Expect
Season one follows the journey of the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon’s first book, so we can only assume season two will continue the trend. In addition to the above, we know Book Two: Earth unfolds largely in the Earth Kingdom. There, our protagonists are also up against both the dangerous Dai Li and threats from the Fire Nation. Meanwhile, Zuko continues to struggle with his road to redemption.
