Avengers: Endgame is just around the corner and fan theories are cropping up left and right. Are Steve and Tony going to come to terms? What’s the deal with Black Widow’s hair? Is Ant-Man going to fly up Thanos’ butt and blow him up from inside?
If that last one sounds a little out there, you’ve clearly been offline these last few weeks. The idea has been gaining traction on Twitter and Reddit, and has gotten so popular that the Russo brothers and Paul Rudd have had to comment on it, and Thanos actor Josh Brolin posted an Instagram video of himself on the toilet with the hashtag #flushantman. It even has a fun name: Thanus. But what would shrinking down to ant size, flying up a butthole, and then expanding into a larger size actually do? Would the body blow up, stretch, crumble away?
Let’s pretend for a minute that this is a totally serious question. With a totally serious answer. Kyle Hill is here with all sorts of information you never knew you always needed in this episode of Because Science. Did you know, for instance, that Ant Man wouldn’t even need to resize himself to kill Thanos by flying up his butt? He could just perforate his colon and be done with it!
Kyle breaks down all you need to know about colon strength, pressure points, and whether or not Ant-Man would look like he was wearing a Thanos suit if he attempted the deed.
Unfortunately, the Russo brothers have seemingly confirmed that this is not, in fact, how Thanos will be defeated in Endgame. But they’re also known tricksters who will go a long way to evade spoiling their movies. It’s still possible, right?
We’ll all find out for sure when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters Friday, April 26.
