Alan Rickman Narrated a Tortoise Eating a Strawberry

Some might consider Alan Rickman‘s final role Lieutenant General Frank Benson in the 2015 British thriller Eye in the Sky, or perhaps as Absolem the caterpillar in the forthcoming Alice Through the Looking Glass. However, Rickman’s actual final role (in a project released during his lifetime) is far different from both of those. On December 13, OneClickGiving uploaded a video to YouTube featuring a tortoise eating a strawberry, its exploits narrated by Rickman. If this sounds bizarre, that’s because it is—but it’s also for a good cause. As Rickman says in the clip, “We’re trying to make a viral video to help refugees. We’re slowly gathering views as this tortoise munches away.”OneClickGiving is trying to get at many views as possible so they will get as much YouTube ad revenue as they can, which they will then donate to Save The Children and Refuge Council. OneClickGiving was founded by students at Oxford University in England, who had some sort of connection to Rickman and were able to get the actor on board with their project.OneClickGiving founder Oliver Phillips described Rickman as a thoughtful person and a pleasure to work with, saying, “He could not have been more kind and generous, letting us in, welcoming us, asking us how university was going, he was really great throughout.”The organization was founded as an easy way to donate to charity, so if you want in, all you have to do to contribute is watch the video above, and encourage others to do the same. Plus, you get to watch a tortoise eat a strawberry, so that’s something.—HT: NeatoramaIMAGE: Warner Bros.
