Adam Driver wanted to do The Hunt for Ben Solo. Steven Soderbergh wanted to direct it. And fans wanted to see it once they learned about the completed script Bob Iger and Disney rejected. But with new leadership at the helm of both Lucasfilm and the Mouse House, could it ever be revived? Ben Solo doesn’t think so. Adam Driver said that when it comes to playing Kylo Ren ever again “it’s over” because there is “no more Star Wars” in his future.
Driver stopped by The Rich Eisen Show to promote his new movie Paper Lion. During the lengthy talk (we first heard about at Variety), Driver talked about his Star Wars return that never happened. It sounds like it never will. He said he’s done playing Kylo Ren. ‘Yeah, it’s over, he said before adding, No more Star Wars.”
Driver pointed out, “We tried to do one more, but, yeah, they’re like, ‘No, he’s dead.” That rejection came after Driver said he “earnestly” worked on the “awesome” script that “was really cool” for two years with Scott Burns, Rebecca Blunt, and Soderbergh. But even though, as Eisen pointed out, it’s easy to come back with a way for dead characters to return—especially in freaking Star Wars—Driver believes the “ship has sailed” on him reprising his role.
Or is it?

Nerdist’s Take: Is Adam Driver Really Done With Star Wars Forever? Maybe Not.
Driver’s response might sound definitive, but it’s not quite what it seems. Towards the end of the discussion about the abandoned film, he made clear he believes the project is dead because Disney doesn’t want to do it and never will. Not because he wouldn’t want to if executives change their mind. When Eisen asked if somebody did want to resurrect Ben Solo, Driver said, “If they wanted to, fine, but it’s not our call.” That’s when he then said he thinks the ship has sailed (though he appreciated the fan reaction to the news).
Adam Driver said “no more Star Wars” for him because he thinks Star Wars doesn’t want him. Not because he doesn’t want to return and never will.
So no, he’s it’s not “over” for him and Ben Solo just yet. If somehow Palpatine can return, somehow Kylo can, too.
