A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE’s Trailer Shows Why the World Went Silent

John Krasinksi’s A Quiet Place introduced audiences to a world already in ruin. The Abbott family were survivors on a planet that no longer belonged to humans. A Quiet Place Part II briefly showed us how humanity’s demise began, but the sequel mostly took us further into the future to see how mankind was barely surviving in a post-apocalyptic nightmare. Now we’re really going to see how things started. The first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One takes us back to the day Earth fell, when screams gave way to silence.

Sign us up for A Quiet Place: Day One cause this is a great trailer. It’s so good Paramount Pictures is letting it speak for itself. The film’s official synopsis is just one sentence: “Experience the day the world went quiet.” Well, quiet after a whole lot of bloodcurdling screams for desperate cries for help. Things were initially pretty loud when a bunch of blind alien monsters with incredible hearing showed up.

The only thing better than this initial teaser—which makes the film feel like the I Am Legend prequel we’ve always deserved—is its cast. It stars Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, who forever established her horror bonafides in Jordan Peele’s Us. (She 100% should have been nominated for that dual performance!) Some other veterans of the genre will also join her in Day One. The film also features Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things 4) and Alex Wolff (Hereditary). And the great Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) will also be there to help keep everyone alive by keeping them silent. Even just from this trailer, we can tell the acting in A Quiet Place: Day One will be top-notch.

This film comes from writer-director Michael Sarnoski. It’s based on a story he developed with Krasinski. According to its trailer, A Quiet Place: Day One crash lands in theaters this summer on June 28, 2024. When you see it, remember to stay quiet. Not only could it keep you alive, it’s just polite. We don’t live in a post-apocalyptic wasteland just yet.
