A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS’ Great Final Trailer Goes Searching for Honor

A century before Robert Baratheon’s death fractured the Seven Kingdoms and the Night King returned to Westeros, House Targaryen still ruled. Only, it ruled without dragons. It also ruled without something else: respect. That much is clear in the great final trailer for HBO’s next Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It takes place in a realm desperate for men of honor. And the show is going to show how it got a double dose from one very large knight and his very small squire.

I love George R.R. Martin’s “Dunk and Egg” novellas. I love them. And this trailer could not possibly have me any more excited for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This first tale of Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his bald little squire “Egg” (Dexter Sol Ansell) is a much more intimate story than the kind told on Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon. Everything we’ve seen from the series captures that.

But one thing this tale does have in common with its predecessors are memorable characters and moments. However, none of Dunk and Egg’s moments involve dragons. At least not actual dragons. As this promo promises, House Targaryen is a very big part of this story. It’s just not nearly as respected as it once was.

How will a lowly hedge knight end up the target of a Targaryen prince? And who, if any, of the Seven Kingdoms’ powerful lords might answer Ser Duncan’s call for men of honor? We’ll find out when A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms kicks off a huge year for George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world. The show’s six-episode first season debuts on January 19, 2026. House of the Dragon’s third season will then follow in the summer.

We’re sure both will feature at least some honorable characters. But they’ll be fun because they’ll also both feature plenty without any, too.
