And just like that, the 2022 Oscars are upon us. Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan were up bright and early—8:18 ET and 5:18 PT—to announce all the nominees for the 94th Academy Awards. Across the 23 categories, there were plenty of surprises in this year’s Oscar nominations and a whole lot of love for The Power of the Dog and Dune.
The former movie scooped up four acting nominations, multiple Oscar nominations for writer-director Jane Campion, and best picture, among others. Meanwhile, Dune, snagged several technical nominations, as well as adapted screenplay and best picture. It also looks like our latest Disney earworms are going nowhere as Encanto snagged a trio of 2022 Oscar nominations—for best animated feature, original score, and best song.
The 94th Oscars take place on March 27. So there’s plenty of time to run to the theater or curl up on the couch and make a marathon of it. (Luckily so many of the films nominated for the 2022 Oscars are currently on various streaming platforms.)
