Rage Virus lovers, rejoice! After the success of 28 Years Later and the early screening buzz around its upcoming sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Sony is keeping the train going with a third 28 Years Later movie. According to Deadline, the next 28 Years Later flick does not have an official title yet but we could see Cillian Murphy starring in that film, which Alex Garland will write.

Now, we already know that Murphy will have a role in The Bone Temple, but it is not fully clear how he will show up. A third 28 Years Later movie could put him back in the main leading role once again. Maybe, just maybe, he will somehow reunite with Selena, who is surely still alive out there somewhere. You simply cannot kill a baddie survivor like her.
Danny Boyle previously expressed interest in directing a third 28 Years Later film, but that isn’t confirmed at this time. The Bone Temple’s director, Nia DaCosta, could also be in the running to step behind the camera once again. Either way, it’s exciting to see this franchise return in such a major way. For now, we are patiently waiting for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple to arrive in theaters on January 16, 2026.
