Max just released a special teaser trailer looking forward to 2025’s offerings on the streaming platform. Among the series showcased are Dune: Prophecy, The Last of Us season two, and the first DCU series Creature Commandos. And, of course, we get a first look at the long-awaited second season of Peacemaker. John Cena is back as our titular hero/insufferable jerk, along with most of the cast of the first season. (At least the ones that didn’t die a grisly death, that is). You can check out just the Peacemaker season two first-look portions of the Max 2025 teaser trailer below:
As we can see in the short teaser for Peacemaker season two, Christopher Smith, a.k.a. Peacemaker, is bonding over beers with his buddies from season one. He says, “No matter how far we are from each other, no one will break us apart.” Among the returning cast is Freddie Stroma as DC Comics‘ Vigilante/Adrian Chase, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as A.R.G.U.S. agent Amelia Harcourt, and Steve Agee as Johnn Economos. These guys could barely stand Peacemaker in season one, but surviving an alien invasion together can create some serious trauma bonding. A new, as-yet-unknown character from the comics will also join them. Also joining in on the Peacemaker season two action is Frank Grillo, reprising his role as Rick Flag Sr. from Creature Commandos.
DC Studios James Gunn started shooting Peacemaker season two as soon as he completed filming Superman. Unfortunately, unlike the first season, Gunn’s new duties at DC Studios kept him from directing the whole season this time. He only directed three episodes out of eight, with Greg Mottola directing two episodes as well. Peacemaker season two will be deemed official canon for the new DCU, and some portions of the previous season adhering to the old DCEU will be jettisoned from continuity. This is, frankly, very in keeping with how DC Comics handles continuity with their many reboots. The second season of Peacemaker is due to arrive on Max sometime in 2025, not long after Superman hits theaters in the summer.
We loved this first look at Peacemaker season two, but we can’t wait to see more from the series very soon.
