THE CROW Returns in Reboot’s Intense First Trailer

Eric Draven is back and ready to make his return to the big screen. The Crow movie reboot from Lionsgate starring Bill Skarsgård has debuted its first trailer for the film. And, 35 years after James O’Barr introduced comic book readers to his character, the iconic supernatural being of vengeance has never looked more deadly.

The Crow, after many failed attempts, is heading back to theaters and it looks like it will be a good time, based on this trailer. It’s the series’ first installment since 2005’s The Crow: Wicked Prayer. But you don’t need to remember anything about previous releases to enjoy this new movie. This is a full (very bloody, very violent) reboot that will show how a brutal death was not the end of one man’s story. It was the beginning of a new existence defined not by hate, but by love. Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Lionsgate:

Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

The film comes from director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman). The script is the work of Zach Baylin (King Richard) and Will Schneider. It also stars Isabella Wei, Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, and Jordan Bolger.

This reboot might be a new start for the franchise, but Brandon Lee’s sad accidental death while filming the first film will forever hang over the series. Sanders has previously said that’s something they “always had in mind through the making of the film.” He also said they’ve made something Lee would be proud of because “his soul is very much alive in this film.”
