That’s right. Let the bells ring out because Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza has been officially saved. We need and deserve this celebration. In 2020, Taco Bell removed the fan-favorite menu item from its line-up of offerings. And that immediately caused an outcry from Mexican Pizza fans everywhere. And let us tell you, Mexican Pizza has many fans. These loyal Taco Bell customers even started a Change.org petition which to date has 171,735 signatures. But most importantly, the Mexican Pizza cause found celebrity support in the form of Doja Cat, who reminds us all that “Mexican Pizza is the pizza for you and me.” And now, everyone’s efforts have paid off because Taco Bell has brought back Mexican Pizza, the menu item will return to its rightful place on May 19.
Doja Cat shared the news during her Coachella set, yelling out into the crowd, “I brought back the Mexican Pizza, by the way.” But, of course, on her Twitter, she shares the credit. We all brought back this delicious dish.
And the best news is that not only is Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza back for now, but it’s also back for good. This means we won’t need any more new petitions or hashtags. We can just enjoy Mexican Pizza’s return to our drive-throughs and mouths in absolute Taco Bell-sponsored peace.
For those not in the know, here is Taco Bell’s official description of its Mexican Pizza. The chain shares:
One clear example of cultural companionship at work is the Mexican Pizza. Crisp pizza shells, refried beans, and a layer of seasoned beef make the “crust,” while pizza sauce, a three-cheese blend, and tomatoes make the topping, creating a delicious love child of Mexican and Italian cuisine. ¡Buen Apetito! Doesn’t solidarity sound delicious?
Right now, the dish is marked as not currently available on Taco Bell’s website. But we know that’s about to change. Mark your calendars for Mexican Pizza’s grand return on May 19 and put in big letters, “We did it, we saved Mexican Pizza.”
