SIMS 4 Reveals Wedding Game Pack with Queer Romance Trailer

We have to give it to commercials recently. They are nailing the gay agenda. Earlier this year, we saw a Holiday-time Gay Santa commercial, which rivaled any Christmas movie. And now we have a new LGBTQ+ adventure from The Sims. Sure, we know it’s an effort to promote the latest downloadable content for Sims 4. But still, when it gives us such a rich narrative, we can’t feel mad about it. And we might even just feel excited to add this latest Sims wedding Game Pack, entitled My Wedding Stories, to our line-up of expansions and extensions.

As voracious consumers of queer media, we are proud that we knew right away where this story was going. And honestly, The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories trailer does a great job with its tale. There is little we love more than subtext that sets itself up and then launches itself right into text. The Sims 4 wedding trailer shows us how the women understand and relate to one another. It features the importance of friendship first. And the trailer even delves into how the queer ladies feel societal pressure to wed, but the standard picture may not be what they want. And honestly, the dramatic, last-minute declaration of love at the alter had us at the edge of our seats. This three-minute trailer hit us right in the feels with all its twists and turns.

We even love how the jilted groom takes it all in stride and loves and supports the happy women around him. Honestly, this is a pretty quality representation of queer joy. Complete with a beautiful image of our leading ladies as older women, still fully in love. A beautiful and powerful visual.

There are many things that could have gone wrong with a Sims wedding expansion. But The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories seems like it may have avoided those pitfalls. We celebrate and look forward to more openness. Something sorely lacking in the wedding genre of media. We even glimpsed different cultural weddings the game will offer and hope those are carried out with the utmost respect.
