Big Mouth lovers rejoice. After five seasons of wacky adult animated coming-of-age drama, this universe is expanding to a spin off series. According to a Netflix press release, Human Resources will be even “edgier” and bring back a few familiar characters along with some fun voice actors. These include Rosie Perez and Henry Winkler, taking on new characters Petra the Ambition Gremlin and Keith From Grief. There’s a lot of new information about the Big Mouth spin off, from a Human Resources trailer to a release date, so let’s get into it.
Big Mouth regulars Maya Rudolph, Nick Kroll, Keke Palmer, and Aidy Bryant return as Connie, Maury, Rochelle, and Emmy, respectively. We will also see other familiar characters like Pete, Walter, and Sonya appearing in Human Resources. In addition to Perez and Winkler, Thandiwe Newton and Jermaine Clement will show up as Mona the Hormone Monstress and Simon Sex in recurring roles. Thankfully, the series will not make the casting mistakes of its predecessor.
So, what is Human Resources about? Check out the synopsis below:
The spin-off pulls back the curtain on the daily lives of the creatures – Hormone Monsters, Depression Kitties, Shame Wizards and many more – that help humans journey through every aspect of life from puberty to parenthood to the twilight years. It quickly becomes clear that though the protagonists are creatures, they have a lot of humanity themselves.
There will surely be a ton of office shenanigans wrapped up in the rather wholesome description of Big Mouth‘s spin off show. Human Resources will hit Netflix on March 22. But, until then, the network has given us a little teaser to chew on. Do we learn anything further about the show? No. Does it wittily capture the boringness of an HR training video? Yes.
Big Mouth fans can join the team today by following their Twitter and IG pages for updates as they drop. Emotional monster spring season is coming.
