Spider-Man is dead. At least Peter Parker is.
Bard Tales Productions recently released Spider-Man Lives: A Miles Morales Story, a live action, fan-made film about the Ultimate Marvel Spider-Man who’s taken comics by storm. (No, not that Storm. Wrong franchise.)
Following Peter’s recent death, Miles is healing from his own spider bite as he and his family watch Brooklyn fall to pieces. The film explores Miles’ desire to help, but also his uncertainty if he can make a difference in this now hereoless city. Like the original Spider-Man, he’s just a kid. And like Uncle Ben famously said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Being Spider-Man….well that’s a lot of pressure to put on a teen. When faced with a dangerous situation, Miles realizes that he really does have something special inside him. He can make a difference, but he has to decide to take that first step. Will he become a hero, or will he settle for fading into the background?
You probably already know the answer.
The short film was written and directed by Ivan Kander, and stars Demetrius Stephens as Miles. And of course, like all Marvel-based stories, you should stick around for the end of the credits.
