The most anticipated movie of 2021 is almost here. Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters December 17. Marvel and Sony have (seemingly) been keen on keeping the film’s biggest secrets a surprise. But this week the press finally got a chance to see if it lives up to the impossible hype. That included Nerdist‘s very own Rosie Knight, who says in her review that those of us hoping for a great Spider-Man movie “won’t be disappointed.” But does everyone agree with her? Or is this a tale of building up expectations beyond what even Peter Parker can reach? Based on Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s first non-spoiler reactions, Rosie’s not the only one who thinks the webbed-slinger has weaved a truly wonderful installment into the Spider-Man franchise.
For some there’s no question as to how this film ranks against its many predecessors. They think this is the single best Spider-Man movie ever made.
#SpidermanNoWayHome sends this trilogy off on a glorious high note! The action is top-notch and the villains steal the show. It felt like a culmination of all the previous 'Spider-Man' films that came before it. This is the BEST Spider-Man film to date! pic.twitter.com/jIMG2aHgwd

Believe the hype! #SpiderManNoWayHome is absolutely incredible. Not only the best superhero movie of the year, but hands down the best Spider-Man film ever that honors what has come before.

But forget just being the best Spider-Man installment to ever hit theaters. Our own Hector Navarro says No Way Home is one of the best superhero movies ever made period.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the best superhero movies of all time.

It just continuously proves, over and over again, why Peter Parker is the greatest fictional character, ever. pic.twitter.com/2VCcIxfZ1J
Based on some of the other Spider-Man: No Way Home reactions to the film, Hector’s assessment might prove to be conventional wisdom by as early as Friday night. No Way Home sounds like it perfectly matches genuine pathos with genuine laughs.
#SpiderManNoWayHome is #SpiderMan film that absolutely would not be possible w/out the foundation set by its franchise predecessors. It’s by far the most mature #Spidey films to date as it pushes Parker’s to his emotional & physical limits. Prepare to be floored! Wow! Wow! Wow! pic.twitter.com/5GD2T9aV9H

#SpiderManNoWayHome was everything I wanted and more. The villains, score, message, and visuals were all incredible. I absolutely loved this film and am looking forward to seeing it over, and over, and over. Definitely worth the wait, every bit of it. pic.twitter.com/Jbp5t3Y273

mini no spoiler review: #SpiderManNoWayHome is a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish — it’s one that has to be seen in the cinema because the audience reaction (the gasps, the laughs!) is just so fun and worthwhile
it’s a fitting finish to this chapter of Spider-Man pic.twitter.com/C1KasZWpPt

Where do I even start? I’m still very much processing #NoWayHome, but the first words that come to mind are amazing and devastating. First of all, Tom Holland’s performance continues (this isn’t the first time) to stick with me long after I leave the theater. #SpiderManNoWayHome pic.twitter.com/V5lkej5aaq

For our fellow criers out there, be prepared. Definitely have a hanky handy. You might not make it through this film with dry eyes.
I. Cried. The. Entire. Time.#SpiderManNoWayHome

Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s first reactions weren’t universally perfect though. However, that shouldn’t exactly worry fans. Even those who found some flaws with the movie, most notably its pacing issues, still had high praise for the film.
#SpiderMan: No Way Home is a wild ride w/ so much emotional baggage. You'll laugh, cry, & scream for more. It is a lot to take in, but the story held its own & took me by surprise. Pacing gets jumbled at times & gets congested w/ too much humor at some points #SpiderManNoWayHome

My #SpiderManNoWayHome first thoughts:
— Eric Goldman (@TheEricGoldman) December 14, 2021
First half has a lot of fun stuff but also feels a bit clunky. But in the 2nd half it coalesces in a big way and has so much absolutely thrilling, awesome stuff. I really loved the places it went for several reasons. Can’t wait to see again
Okay, fine, we’ll see it. Not that there was ever any doubt we would. The real question is how many times will we.
