STRANGER THINGS Cereals Will Turn Breakfast Upside Down

Netflix is turning breakfast Upside Down. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean spilled milk all over your kitchen table. The streaming site has partnered with General Mills for a Hawkins, Indiana celebration. Special Stranger Things boxes of your favorite cereals can now be yours. And fans of the hit horror series will want to dig into all the extras they come with.

Netflix’s new line of limited-edition Stranger Things cereals includes Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Lucky Charms. Each box comes adorned with different Easter eggs from the show. Lucky’s box features Joyce Byers season one Christmas Lights and an offer for a free Wheeler van. A smiling demogorgon welcomes you to have an upside down bowl of cinnamon-flavored goodness. Which also promises five dollars worth of tokens to the Palace Arcade. And any breakfast goer will be cheery looking at that inverted Cheerios name, Russian text, and a chance to win a $100 gift card to Starcourt Mall.

But the front of the boxes are only the start of the fun. Each cereal also features touches from the show on the side and back. And the front covers open like a book to reveal a full two-page Stranger Things activity. There’s so much to enjoy and investigate here you’ll probably need three bowls worth of time to take it all in.

All those extras partly explain the Netflix online shop’s listed price of $19.86 for each box. That’s a whole lot more than normal box of cereal. But these are not a typical food crossover promotion. These are collectibles you won’t want your kids to play with. The other reason for that highly specific price is that 1986 is the setting of Stranger Things 4. The show will finally return after a long hiatus in the summer of 2022.

That’s still a whole lot of sleeps away. But at least now Stranger Things fans will have something to wake up to while they wait.
