FARGO Announces Season 4 Premiere Date

Fargo season four was originally meant to premiere in April, but had to shut down production due to COVID-19. The latest news from Variety is that the first two episodes of Fargo‘s fourth season will air back to back on FX on Sunday, Sept. 27, with one episode per week airing going forward from there.

In the meantime, the show’s hilarious latest promo has us more eager than ever to watch Chris Rock and Jason Schwartzman as the heads of competing crime families fighting for control of Kansas City in the ’50s. Especially because we don’t remember any other mob stories that involved a boss riding on a seesaw.

From the official synopsis:

In 1950 Kansas City, the fourth installment of Fargo centers on two criminal syndicates who are fighting for a piece of the American dream and have struck an uneasy peace. Together, they control an alternate economy of exploitation, graft and drugs. To cement their truce, Loy Cannon (Chris Rock), the head of the African American crime family, trades his youngest son Satchel (Rodney Jones), to his enemy Donatello Fadda (Tomasso Ragno), the head of the Italian mafia. In return, Donatello surrenders his youngest son Zero (Jameson Braccioforte) to Loy.”

The latest promo for season four of the FX series really highlights the signature dark humor of the Fargo universe and Noah Hawley’s anthology series, as Midwest kindness meets absurd characters on the wrong side of the law in the earliest set season of the show so far. And no one looks more absurd in this installment than Jason Schwartzman’s Josto Fadda. He’s “the impulsive and self-indulgent heir apparent” to his Jewish-Italian family’s crime empire.

Timothy Olyphant will also get in on the fun as U.S. Marshal Dick “Deafy” Wickware. The show also features Ben Whishaw as Donatello’s adopted son Rabbi Milligan, and Jack Huston as Detective Odis Weff. Jessie Buckley plays Oraetta Mayflower. E’myri Crutchfield is Ethelrida Pearl Smutny. And Anji White stars Dibrell Smutny, the “precocious 16-year-old daughter” of Andrew Bird’s Thurman.

We don’t know what will trigger the inevitable break of the uneasy truce between the two sides. But we’re worried about the safety of both young sons who will be traded to keep the peace. This is Fargo after all. Innocent people die all the time.
