The official press release works as a great primer for those who aren’t familiar with the series.
“Netflix’s new series The Baby-Sitters Club is based on the best-selling book series, that follows the friendship and adventures of Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary-Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez) as the middle-schoolers start their babysitting business in the town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Rounding out the cast, Alicia Silverstone plays Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, the selfless single-mother of Kristy Thomas and love interest of all around good guy Watson Brewer, played by Mark Feuerstein. Ann M. Martin, the beloved series author and producer on the new series, was the first to conceive the idea of these inspiring young girls with different backgrounds, personalities and opinions that were brought together by a business venture they conceived and bonded through the friendships they forged.”
Over at Seventeen, the new cast revealed some thoughts about their characters that gives a little insight into the new club!

Dawn – Xochitl Gomez
Netflix
“She’s chill and she’s laid back. She has a lot of confidence. She puts her friends first. She’s very empathetic and has a passion for being an activist and making the world better.”
Mary-Anne – Malia Baker
Netflix
“Mary-Anne is very shy. She has a lot of inner dialogue and she’s funny without even knowing it.”
Kristy – Sophie Grace
Netflix
“Kristy is an incredibly smart and creative and driven person. She is a natural leader and she’s really cool! Kristy has such a big and kind heart and she always means well. But sometimes, she can get a little bit ahead of herself at times when she’s trying to take charge of the situation.”
Stacy – Shay Rudolph
Netflix
“Stacey McGill is a really savvy girl who moves to Stoneybrook from New York. She really really cares about her friends, and she’s a total fashionista as well.”
