Were you hoping that The Expanse’s move from SyFy to Amazon Prime would mean bigger and better things for TV’s best space opera? If so, we have good news for you. The first episode of season four premiered at NYCC today, and as you’ll see in the trailer that came along with that, the best of your favorite Belters, Earthers, and Martians is yet to come.
To bring you up to speed (hard to do with this particular show), we last left our heroes on the brink of the Ring, a whole new system of planets that may or may not be safe for colonization. This season will see the crew of the Roci on one of those new planets and a mysterious new threat (not necessarily related to the protomolecule, but you can’t really rule anything out, no matter how far out in space you go). The most striking thing here is how sleek everything looks. It’s safe to say we’ll be seeing some epic battles between spaceships this season, and though this show’s quietest, more emotion-driven moments are some of its best, throwing some more outer planet warfare in is never a bad thing.
In addition to all that whiz-bang space action, it’s great to see other favorites making their return (mainly Chrisjen Avasarala and Bobbie Draper), plus new cast member Burn Gorman of Pacific Rim fame.
This is, of course, merely a teaser, but we’re only two months out now. Personally, I’m counting down the days till I get to hang out with my space friends for a solid 10-12 hours again.
