We’re counting down the days until Netflix drops the full season of their new series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson film. The trailers and behind-the-scenes looks show what promises to be a beautiful, imaginative, and dense world of puppeteering magic, something that is sure to pull all sorts of nostalgic heartstrings. The show arrives this Friday, but in the meantime we’ve got a preview of a track from the show’s score, composed by Daniel Pemberton. The song is called “Aughra Awakes” and is track 5 on the soundtrack.
The score is divided into two volumes, with the first conducted by Pemberton, and the second by Pemberton and Samuel Sim. Pemberton has previously worked on the scores for films like The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Molly’s Game, and All the Money in the World, while Sim is known for his work on BBC’s Dunkirk.
While both volumes will first make their way to audiences on digital platforms, they will also be available on CD and vinyl in the coming months, released exclusively through Music.Film Recordings. We can’t wait to get our hands on a physical copy of this beautiful music, but until then, we’re going to keep listening to “Aughra Awakes” on repeat.
