POKÉMON HOME, SLEEP, and MASTERS Announced

In addition to Pokémon Sword and Shield, the duo of games headed to the Nintendo Switch some time in 2019, the Pokémon Company also has a few more treats coming our way. On Tuesday, May 28, the company announced three new projects—two games and one service whose primary function seems to be the swapping of creatures—presently in the works. Here’s a rundown of all the Poké-news to spring from the company’s Tokyo press conference, via Kotaku.

Pokémon Home

First, we have the cloud-based service Pokémon Home, which will allow players to store the creatures they collect in games like Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sword and Shield, and others, and to transport them from one game to another. Additionally, players will be able to use Pokémon Home to trade Pokémon, and otherwise interact, with fellow trainers.

Pokémon Sleep

The functionality of Pokémon Sleep is a bit vague at present. What we do know is that the app, which comes from the minds behind Magikarp Jump, will track its user’s physical sleep patterns and integrate this data into the game to affect gameplay. Furthermore, Pokémon Sleep will somehow interact with an also newly announced Pokémon GO update, Pokémon GO+. In promotion of this new feature, a herd of snoozing Snorlax is being introduced into Pokémon GO immediately, though Pokémon Sleep won’t be seeing release until sometime in 2020.

Pokémon Masters

Finally, we have Pokémon Masters, a new battle-based mobile game. The game is meant to feature familiar faces from the Pokémon canon, employing their most famous Pokémon allies in battle. Furthermore, the battles look to take a three-on-three format that is not usually seen in Pokémon games.

That’s the long and short of the latest Pokémon news; keep your ear to the ground for more updates on Pokémon HomeSleep, and Masters, as well as Sword and Shield.
