Stan Lee’s Final Animated Appearance Is with Mark Hamill

Although the late Stan Lee‘s poignant cameo in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse brought many of us to tears while sitting in the theater, it’s actually not his last voice over for an animated Marvel Comics based property. We still have one more to look forward to: Marvel.com has announced Lee’s final voice acting in animation will happen in this week’s episode of Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest. His final appearance is alongside another geek legend, Mark Hamill. Watch the clip:

The episode, titled “T’Chanda,†focuses on a flashback adventure featuring T’Challa’s grandfather, who was the Black Panther of the 1940s. In this chapter, Lee plays an American General during the days of World War II, fighting alongside the Panther, Captain America, and Peggy Carter (portrayed again by Hayley Atwell).  He has some harsh words for Mark Hamill’s character, the evil genius Arnim Zola.
Fittingly, Stan’s final speech in animated form is a pronouncement against hate. Marvel’s senior vice president of animation and family entertainment Cort Lane told Marvel, “It’s bittersweet, but I’m so glad we were able to capture a message that was very true to how Stan felt about the world and that inspired him to write a lot of the stories that he did.â€This is Stan’s final voice cameo, but we fully expect to see him make at least a few more live-action appearances before it’s all said and done, as he shot scenes for Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel some time ago, and maybe Spider-Man: Far From Home. Regardless of his voice or physical presence, we have a hunch Lee’s influence will be felt in Marvel films for years to come.Lee’s episode of Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest airs Sunday, January 13, at 9PM ET/PT on Disney XD.
