LEGO has a way of casting a spell on us with their Harry Potter sets, but the newest one from them isn’t just their most magical, it’s their most massive. Later this year they’ll let us take wizarding courses from home with their gigantic new Hogwarts Castle.
Standing over 22-inches high, 27-inches wide, and 16-inches deep, their biggest Harry Potter set ever clocks in at a whopping 6,020 pieces total, which is more than four and a half times bigger than LEGO’s old Hogwarts set. And with all of those pieces there are an insane amount of touches and details to make your time at school feel authentic. It includes towers, turrets, chambers, classrooms, creatures, the Whomping Willow (complete with a blue Flying Ford Anglia car stuck in its branches), Hagrid’s hut, and five boats. There are also stained glass windows, house banners, benches, tables, flaming torches, racks of potions, a gramophone, a closet containing a boggart, Tom Riddle’s Diary, the Goblet of Fire, and the vanishing cabinet. Additional accessories include the Sword of Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff’s cup, wands, flames, a cauldron, and two magnifying glasses.
Whew.
As for actual locations within Hogwarts it has the Great Hall, Chamber of Secrets, a Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Chessboard Chamber, Room of Requirement, the hidden Devils Snare room, Gryffindor common room with fireplace and seating, Dolores Umbridge’s pink office, Professor Dumbledore’s office with the Griffin statue entrance and Memory cabinet, the school library, and moving staircases to connect them all.
A school needs people, obviously, and the set comes with 27 minifigures of the franchise’s most famous students, professors, villains, and more, including: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, professors Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Remus Lupin, Dolores Umbridge, Argus Filch, Lord Voldemort, and Bellatrix Lestrange. There are also three students from each of the four houses, two chess pieces, the Architect of Hogwarts statue, and five Dementors to frighten everyone on school grounds. It also features figures of Aragog the spider and the Basilisk, and a buildable Hungarian Horntail dragon.
There are also four minifigures of the school’s founders, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw, who come with their own buildable display stand.
Fittingly the set–which you can see more pictures of below–will be available in time for the new Hogwarts’ school year, on September 1, and it will retail for $399.99. A big price? Maybe, but it’s also a really big set. And you can’t put a price tag on a magical education.
