Bethesda Unveils DOOM Sequel at E3

Get ready for everything to go to hell in a handbasket all over again! On Sunday night, Bethesda surprised the crowd at their annual E3 press conference with a surprise reveal of Doom Eternal, a sequel to 2016’s critically acclaimed Doom. The 2016 game served as a series reboot of sorts, offering up brutal combat, grisly melee executions, and hordes of murderous demons. Bethesda said the game will feature a more powerful version of the Doom Slayer (the metal-as-hell name for the player character) and offer twice as many demons as the 2016 game. In addition, the game will be set on what appears to be a hellish version of Earth, overrun by the armies of the underworld.

The teaser, while exceptionally light on details, sets the tone for what looks to be a bonecrunching sequel to what many regard as one of the best games of 2016. While details about Doom Eternal are scant for now, Bethesda promised more details will be revealed at Quakecon, which takes place in Grapevine, Texas from August 9-12.
