If Star Trek 4 can get out of development hell and into production, we might soon see more of Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk on our screens. But he’s not the only Captain Kirk who could be making a comeback. Recently, William Shatner spoke to Canada’s Global News about a potential return to the Star Trek world as Captain Kirk.
He shared, “It’s an intriguing idea… It’s almost impossible. But if was a great role and so well-written and if there were a reason to be there not just to make a cameo appearance, but if there were a genuine reason for the character appearing, I might consider it.” The publication shares that Shatner mused on returning as a younger Captain Kirk through the use of deaging technology.
Though Shatner’s Captain Kirk was killed in 1994’s Star Trek Generations, Shatner notes that perhaps Kirk’s body and brain could be noted to have been frozen and then revived. He shares, “We’ve got Captain Kirk’s brain frozen here.’ There’s a scenario. ‘Let’s see if we can bring back a little bit of this, a little salt, a little pepper. Oh, look at that. Here comes Captain Kirk!’”
