Remember the muscle-laden fish on SpongeBob SquarepantsOpens in a new tab who had a bowl of nails for breakfastOpens in a new tab… without any milk? Arnett, who voices BatmanOpens in a new tab in the upcoming The LEGO Batman MovieOpens in a new tab, stalled for a minute by naming some of his co-stars in the movie (Michael CeraOpens in a new tab, Rosario DawsonOpens in a new tab, and Zach GalifianakisOpens in a new tab, among others) before taking off his shoes and standing at the foot of the 10-to-12-foot bed covered in hastily poured LEGO bricks, edges jutting out of the pile like a physical manifestation of anxiety and pain. Over the course of a few harrowing seconds, Arnett braved the painful plastic, slowly marching across the bricks like it was actually red coals beneath his feet. He gave a brave smile and thumbs up for the crowd, but that wasn’t enough to mask the anguish that was oh so apparent.
Sure enough, he made it across, seemingly blood-free. How did it feel? We’ll never know, since he only had the energy to be draped in a blanket by Guillermo and double over in relief. We salute you, Arnett, as you may be the bravest person we’ve ever seen on TV.
