DISTURBING MASH-UP ALERT: WEDNESDAY’s Thing Is ONE PIECE’s Luffy for Halloween

Uhhhh…. Halloween can bring to life all kinds of wild and weird creations. And we bet if there’s one fictional world that does Halloween right, it’s Netflix’s Wednesday. But recently, Netflix gave us a glimpse of the Halloween celebrations in the world of Wednesday… And they were not exactly what we expected. We thought all the denizens of Wednesday‘s world might go very goth for Halloween—that is in their nature after all. But instead, everyone’s favorite severed hand, Wednesday‘s Thing, decided on a much different route—wearing a cheerier, more colorful costume than we could have dreamed. Which, we suppose is in the spirit of dressing up. Netflix revealed that Wednesday‘s Thing actually dressed up as One Piece‘s Luffy this Halloween. We admit, it’s disturbing, BUT we love it. Happy Halloween, everyone! (Or whatever day you’re seeing this, we hope it makes it better/worse.)

We love/hate this Wednesday/One Piece Halloween mashup. Thing even painted his nails appropriately copper for the occasion and went off to find a pirate ship. We approve. In its caption, Wednesday‘s Thing shares this about its Halloween Luffy lewk. “what i lack in stretchiness i make up for in stitches.” Fair enough! We’re glad Thing didn’t go off and eat a Devil’s Fruit—if this hand could also stretch its fingers into abnormally long shapes, we wouldn’t love that very much. All told, Thing did a great job dressing up as One Piece‘s Luffy—complete with blue pants, sash, and of course, THE STRAW HAT!

Wednesday and Luffy could not be two more different characters if they tried. Wednesday is all about the doom, gloom, and goth aloofness. Meanwhile, Luffy is cheerful, optimistic, and full of pep. But both Wednesday and One Piece do have a fun supernatural vein in common. And honestly, we bet Luffy would LOVE meeting Thing. Maybe one day it can happen in the Netflix Connected Universe. One Piece season three IS coming up, after all.

In the meantime, we’d recommend both these shows very highly. We’re glad to see this Wednesday and One Piece mash-up. And we wish King of the Pirates, Thing, a very happy Halloween, may it enjoy its time as Luffy.
