Surprise Critters and future Critters to be, Prime Video has released the first episode of its new animated Critical Role series, The Mighty Nein, on its YouTube channel. That’s right, even though The Mighty Nein will not officially release until November 19, you can catch it early and free on Prime Video’s YouTube channel. Your new Critical Role adventures start right now—so don’t delay, hit play! 
The Mighty Nein will bring us all back to the world of Exandria for a slightly darker, but no less full of heart, Critical Role adventure. Alongside its first episode, Prime Video shares of The Mighty Nein, “The Mighty Nein tracks a group of outcasts, criminals and misfits forced to work together when an arcane artifact is stolen by wizard assassins. After the relic, known as “The Beacon,” causes a massive border explosion, sending Wildemount to the brink of war, the Mighty Nein unwittingly becomes the only hope at stopping reality itself from unraveling.”
But as for The Mighty Nein episode one, which you can watch right now for free, here’s what’s in store for you, “After an explosion at the border, Wildemount is on the brink of War. Beauregard Lionett investigates the scene of an explosion, uncovering a sinister scheme lurking in the shadows. Meanwhile, Caleb Widogast teams up with an unlikely ally to break into a magical pet shop.”
It’s magic, team-ups, and gorgeous animation, ahoy! Right from episode one, The Mighty Nein is delivering everything we hoped it would. The Mighty Nein promises to be a bit of a slower burn than the campaign, but one that delivers a richer build of dynamics. Because, as showrunner Tasha Huo shares of making the series:
A big part of the adaptation was thinking about, ‘Okay, well, where are these characters actually coming from?” And now that we have the time and space to really show them getting together for the first time, let’s take it, let’s take those 44 minutes and really see who they are, why they don’t trust each other when they first meet, and why it’s actually hard for them to come together. Because that’s more likely what would happen given where all the characters are coming from. But in D&D, you obviously all play with your friends, you just jump in.
We can already tell that’s true from episode one of The Mighty Nein—and we love every delicious relationship-building moment. Ahhh, do we really have to wait for more? Maybe Prime Video will drop us another episode. Or maybe, we’ll just have to wait until November 19, when the first three episodes of The Mighty Nein will release on Prime Video.
