The Upcoming UNCHARTED Movie Will Star SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING’s Tom Holland

The  Uncharted games are no stranger to cinematography: J.J. Abrams is quoted as saying that the intro of Uncharted 2 is “the best opening of a game, television show or movie” he’s ever seen. A movie based on the games his been in the works since at least 2014, but concrete news about this movie has been few and far between over the past few years. Now, though, the film has its star, as  Deadline reports that  Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland will portray protagonist Nathan Drake in the Uncharted adaptation.

This project previously had scripts written by Joe Carnahan, David Guggenheim and Eric Warren Singer, but now Sony Pictures is working on another re-write that is based on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, in which Drake and his thieving mentor Victor Sullivan travel to, among other places, the Rub’ al Khali desert, to look for the legendary lost city the Iram of the Pillars, which is written about in the Quran. It’s not a direct adaptation of that plot, though, since the movie will be a prequel, directed by Shawn Levy, who has worked on Arrival and the Night at the Museum series.

This is a big opportunity for Holland, a young actor who’s getting the chance to anchor two big-time movie franchises early on in his career. If his appearance on Lip Sync Battle is any indication, the guy is totally ready to be a star. Do you think Holland is a good fit for the role, or is there somebody else you’d rather see take on the role of Nathan Drake? And who should fill out the rest of the cast? Let us know what you think in the comments!
