Eight years ago, Mike Elliott unleashed the fantasy card game, Thunderstone, and it quickly earned a fan following. Now it’s time for a brand new edition of Thunderstone, that may provide an even more rewarding experience for players.
Earlier this month, AEG launched a Kickstarter campaign for Thunderstone Quest, and it’s already reached its fundraising goal several times over. Thunderstone Quest will still retain the classic deck building gameplay, but this time it will add several new elements to the game. Among the new features are specific stories within the pre-set dungeons, as well as mini-adventures and a story book that will give players a greater idea of how the world will unfold around them.
As explained on the campaign page, “the new Quest system gives us the ability to offer you a modular adventuring experience so that the game is always fresh and challenging. We incorporated lots of player feedback about other game systems including weight and light. And we worked to make the climax of the game dramatic and exciting for every player, every game.”
For $60, backers of Thunderstone Quest can get the Adventurer Pledge, which comes with the standard game of 400 cards and everything you need to enjoy the experience. But for $100, fans can get the Champion Pledge, which includes 1,000 cards, two additional quests, a premium box, as well as everything that was included in the Adventurer Pledge. Both pledge levels will also receive any stretch goal rewards, several of which have already been unlocked.
The Thunderstone Quest Kickstarter is still in its early days, but it will run until Friday, March 24. To back the campaign or learn more about the game, you can visit the Kickstarter page here. The expected release date for both editions of the game is May 2018.
