And Armand. I mean, Armand is in the opening title sequence, too. He’d just like you to know that. He’s still important. Even if it’s called The Vampire Lestat now, or what have you. It doesn’t matter that Lestat is in The Vampire Lestat‘s opening credits sequence for over a minute. Or that he looks really hot. Details. Details!!! Ehm, that’s enough from The Vampire Armand. What WE at Nerdist are trying to tell you is that The Vampire Lestat has released its opening title sequence, in celebration of its premiere date announcement, and it is AMAZING. Not only does it use Lestat’s new single from the series to great effect, but it pays homage to a ton of other vampires and vampiric symbolism as well. Yes, that includes Twilight‘s Edward Cullen. (And Armand. Armand is also present in the narrative.) You can watch The Vampire Lestat‘s opening title sequence below.
All the usual suspects are present in these The Vampire Lestat opening credits. There’s Lestat, of course, looking like a true unhinged rockstar. Hot, fragile, emotional, and hungry. We’re obsessed. Louis, of course, stars. The sequence when he seems to swallow Lestat is incredible. Then there are all the other vamps, Daniel Molloy, freshly turned. Armand, lurking in the corner like the gremlin he is. And potentially, Claudia is haunting the narrative. But other vampires make an appearance on this journey, well, the aura of them anyway. There’s Nosferatu. (That’s how Lestat sees Armand.) There’s a vampire that really resembles Count Chocula or perhaps the Dracula from Groovie Ghoolies. We really feel like Twilight‘s Edward Cullen is being honored on the wall poster, and believe we spy someone who reminds us of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And we’re obsessed.
Of course, beyond that, there are glimpses of what the story of The Vampire Lestat will hold. Lost opportunities, sweet relief, death, and bowling! (Perhaps even frozen Akasha!) A bloody urinal, why not?
The Vampire Lestat synopsis, shared along with this opening title sequence, notes, “In the upcoming rock and roll centric season, the Vampire Lestat goes on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rises, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population. In addition to Reid, The Vampire Lestat stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Jennifer Ehle and is executive produced by award-winning producer Mark Johnson, creator, writer and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.” We do get that haunted feeling from The Vampire Lestat’s opening credits, and we LOVE it.”
The Vampire Lestat will officially premiere on June 7. And we CANNOT wait. Interview with the Vampire seasons one and two are now streaming on AMC+.
