This fall, director Shane Black is bringing The Predator back to Earth, and this time, humanity thinks that it’s ready for the threat from beyond the stars. The latest film in the series refers directly back to the events of the original Predator. But in the new red band trailer, an ultimate Predator has arrived and it may be the most dangerous of its race of alien hunters to date.
What makes this Predator so different? Apparently the Predators are no longer satisfied with their own genetics, and they’ve been splicing themselves with DNA from other alien races to make themselves even more lethal. Ordinarily, this wouldn’t be our problem, but a young boy named Rory McKenna (Jacob Tremblay) has accidentally summoned the Predators to his small town. It’s going to come down to Rory’s father, Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook), to prevent the end of the human race.
Fortunately, Quinn has some backup in his battle against the Predator. Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Alfie Allen, and Augusto Aguilera play a group of ex-soldiers who are just crazy enough to believe Quinn’s story about the Predator. Olivia Munn co-stars in the movie as Casey Bracket, a science teacher who also finds herself roped into the fight against the Predator. But the most intriguing addition is Sterling K. Brown’s Will Traeger, a man who describes his job in the trailer as “acquisitions.” Essentially, his agency has been going after alien technology for years, and they may have some hidden weapons in their arsenal.
The Predator will arrive in theaters on September 14.
